We’re asking you to get your friends together for Oxfam on Thursday 8th March to celebrate International Women’s Day. It’s the perfect excuse to have fun and raise money for a great cause.

Do whatever you love doing – a dinner party, coffee morning or a film night. Just ask your guests to make a donation for taking part - and to help support women worldwide.
Whether you hold a Get Together with friends, colleagues or in your local community, you will help women build a better future for themselves and their families. And Oxfam will give you everything you need to make organising your event simple and a huge success - so you can just focus on catching up with your friends and raising money!

Host a dinner party - You don't have to be Nigella or Delia to cook up a storm, so why not get the girls round for a bite to eat and a glass of wine. Hold a pamper evening - Relax, put your feet up and pamper yourselves. Going to a spa can be really expensive so why not have a girly night in. |

Hold a cake sale - Calories don't count on International Women's Day, so whip up a sweet treat for your colleagues. Have a 'get together' lunch - Take over the canteen for a lunch – just ask everyone for a donation to take part. |

Put on a Zumba class - If you've got a large local hall why not put on an evening of aerobics or the increasingly popular Zumba. Ask our your community whether any qualified instructors would give their time. Hold a Pudding Party - Get the community together by holding an indulgent pudding party. Simply arrive with a pudding and a donation for entry and enjoy as much delicious desert as you can |
Why women?
There are around 1.3 billion people living in extreme poverty worldwide; more than two-thirds of them are women and girls. Statistics like these reflect the bleak reality of life for millions of women in the developing world.
But we are dedicated to changing this. All of Oxfam’s projects have gender equality at their heart, ensuring women overcome the discrimination they face, and secure their basic rights. From enabling maternity care in Ghana to supporting women in business in Vietnam.
Don’t just take our word for it – here’s some famous faces telling you why you should get involved:
