The RSPCA are investigating after a woman was caught on camera dumping a cat in a wheelie bin in Coventry.
The woman involved has been found after being caught on CCTV stroking the cat before picking it up and dropping it in a wheelie bin in Bray Lane in Stoke.
The cat was stuck in there for around 16 hours last Sunday.
The police have not arrested the woman because it's not a crime.
They're denying reports she's being given police protection, saying community support officers are outside her home for public order reasons as a crowd has gathered.
People are being urged to leave the matter in the hands of the authorities.
