Man in hospital after city centre machete attack

A man has been taken to hospital after being attacked with a machete in Coventry city centre.

The 34-year-old was attacked by a group of around five men off Palmer Lane just before 4.30pm yesterday (Monday, 15 July), and sustained cuts to his arms and chest after being slashed with the knife.

He remains in a serious but stable condition, while a woman he was with also suffered minor injuries.

Police believe the incident was a targeted attack, and enquiries are underway to identify and arrest the men responsible, with officers analysing CCTV in the city centre.

Any witnesses or those with information are urged to contact West Midlands Police via Live Chat at WMP Online, or call 101 quoting crime reference 20CV/168105Q/19.
