Pensioner attacked by youths in attempted carjacking

An elderly man has been attacked during an attempted carjacking in Coventry.

It is reported the victim in his 80s was getting out of his grey Peugeot 206 on Grangemouth Road in Radford at 10.40am yesterday (Wednesday, 24 April) when he was approached by two masked youths.

They demanded he hand over the keys to the vehicle, before punching him several times and pushing him to the floor.

The offenders took the keys but were stopped by members of the public, who intervened and detained them until police arrived.

The man's injuries are not thought to be serious.

Two teenage boys, aged 16 and 18, were arrested on suspicion of robbery and remain in police custody.
