Second teenager charged after police officers suffer injury in Bedworth incident

A second teenage boy has been charged after two police officers were left injured following an incident in Bedworth.

It happened at Tesco in Leicester Street, at around 6.25pm on Friday (28 December), when officers initially responded to a report of people taking drugs.

Upon their arrival, an altercation took place which led to the two officers suffering minor face injuries.

Two boys were then arrested, whilst a knife and cannabis were both seized.

Previously, a 15-year-old from Bedworth was charged with assaulting a police officer and possession of a knife.

A 16-year-old boy from Coventry has now also been charged with assaulting a police officer and possession of cannabis.

Both boys will appear at Coventry Youth Court on 10 January.
