Witness appeal after Coventry man dies in crash

Warwickshire Police are reappealing for witnesses or information following a fatal collision near Coventry, in which a man from the city died.

At around 5.50am on Thursday, 4 July, a grey Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution was in collision with a tree on the A423, between the junctions of Hillman Way and Glenfern Gardens near Ryton.

The driver of the car, a 40-year-old man from Coventry, was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin has been informed.

Investigating officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, or saw any other cars in the area at the time and how they were being driven.

It is believed one man left a message to police saying he was at the scene and has dashcam footage, but he did not leave his number. Officers are asking the man to call back on 101 so they can take a statement.

If anyone has any information, or any HGV drivers have dashcam footage by the A45 Finham towards Coventry Tollbar Island between 5.45am-6am, please call Warwickshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 33 of 4 July 2019.
