Last year Stuart Kettle was suspended in a glass box in Broadgate for 7 days to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. That was always going to be a tough act to follow, but I think he’s done it. He’s once again in Broadgate every day this week running a gruelling marathon a day in a hamster wheel!! It’s mounted on a see-saw that will start to tip with the weight of donations into the hamster pot. The see-saw has been designed not to tip until at least 6 buckets worth of coins and notes have been achieved. I’m catching up with Stuart every day this week on the show to hear how he’s getting on. If you’re in the City, go and show him your support and if possible make a donation, no matter how small. It’s all for a great cause.

I shouldn’t laugh, but I loved the story this week about the German trucker left stranded with £150,000 worth of brand new cars on the back of his truck. The driver reckons he did what the satnav told him to do which took him to a woodland path in Cochem, Germany, which is normally used by local dairy farmers. The road got small and smaller until eventually he couldn't go forwards or backwards. A rescue team using tow trucks and heavy lifting equipment took all day Saturday to free the truck. My satnav is very temperamental, it gets confused and scared on the Coventry ringroad and when I was on my way to an important meeting last week, it decided to lose signal and stop working. I nearly through it out of the window. We rely on these things far too much!

Tending the garden can make you feel younger and happier, researchers are saying this week. A regular spot of gardening gives us more of a zest for life than those who don’t have green fingers. Gardeners are also more likely to be organised and optimistic than non-gardeners. Now I’m no Alan Titchmarsh, so here’s an idea ……. my back garden needs a lot of work doing to it, so if you haven’t got much of a garden you are most welcome to come and sort mine out. In fact I won’t charge you a penny either
